Can Diabetes Cause Infertility in Males?

Can diabetes cause infertility in males? If you suffer from diabetes, you have likely asked yourself this question time and again.

Infertility is defined as the inability of a couple to get pregnant after trying to do so for at least one year. About 20 percent of the couples in the United States have to deal with the problem of infertility.

Diabetes causes male infertility in three ways: Causes impotence by affecting the health of small blood vessels and lowering testosterone levels. Lowers sex desire by lowering testosterone levels. Reduces semen volume by affecting the small nerves that control ejaculation and by lowering testosterone.
